i'm not lying when i say i love pop culture and sports ;)
monday – following a packed weekendmy morning was spent with D in alabang, easing up the night before with a healthy breakfast while watching last night's tennis match replay and playtime with baby caloy. being in makati did not hurry me up in any way as i shared tea and chitchats with teppy until late afternoon. now dinner was no different in fact it was an extension of the starbucks session. teppy and i laughed over beer and quite surprisingly discussed a topic that isn't exactly a favorite of mine ;)
tuesday – on a gossip girl high
while most people found the gossip girl finale boring, i kinda liked it. dan's final breakup with serena was a sincerely touching moment, with a cringe-worthy aftermath. the two were forced to dance together for the sake of the wedding photographer. when the photographer left, serena said, "he's gone. you can let go. "i don't want to," he answered, and she leaned into his shoulder. it was a painful and surprisingly affecting moment that of course made cry. i have two words for you dan, "ang labo mo!" joke, haha so yeah i didn't just kinda liked it. i really liked it.
wednesday/thursday – crazy for david cook
he had me at "you'll always be my baby" so while i didn't really follow this season as much as i did previous ones i just had to see david cook win. i woke up early and stayed glued even through some boring performances. it was worth it. as he dissolved in sobs, i cried too. i realized one of the reasons why i still watch this show after so many years is my undying faith in pop culture. U2 got it wrong that day because i've certainly found what i've been looking for.
thursday – football fix
penalty-kick shootouts are a hassle because for football fans they have no soul but in this year's UEFA champions league, one penalty kick spelled the difference and my ever reliable google reader fed me with the best words to set me in the mood for the replay.
"a newly laid pitch and a rainy night in moscow conspired to beat chelsea in the UEFA champions league final early hhursday morning.
manchester united had a little something to do with it too. but the european champs almost certainly wouldn't be the champs now if captain john terry hadn't slipped on chelsea's fifth penalty kick. but then chelsea might not have gotten to the shootout if united goalie edwin van der sar hadn't slipped and fallen in first half injury time as he tried to set up to stop frank lampard, who easily hit the open net."
football, they say, is boring but when you've got a hard core underdog up against a team that had a stellar season dueling on a rainy day then they might as well eat their words.
friday - obviously a slow day...
that's why i had time to waste on another thing i like to do - blogging ;)
happy weekend everyone!
