singapore post script
i don't think i'll get over seeing kimi in person soon but i think it's about time i'll share some interesting bits of my formula one singapore weekend. everything that happened is still vivid and i must say the three days spent back here in manila is all such a blur because nothing beats that weekend.
cherry, my sports buddy since college, was such a trooper. our trip was almost ruined by pal but the ateneo blue eagles put us back in celebratory mood as soon as we landed. i kept getting lost going to basic places like the elevator and exits but cherry was always there to guide me through. i was more than happy to show her around orchard because i have the upper hand there. i actually remembered the places erika and i went to when i celebrated my birthday with her last year where else but in
erika, my “mommy” during my stay there, was as usual the best host ever. she would constantly check on me when we’re not together. in fact i have a favorite text from her, her reply when i said something like okay mom i’m with che now and we’re doing this and that. “mommy ba? okay, don’t talk to strangers except if his name is kimi.” what a cool mom? ;) hahaha and she was like that to me everyday and when we’re actually together she’d take me to all these delicious places. she’s also one of the few people who can actually make me shop shoes and clothes and not food. hehe. she’s the reason why i always think of going back to
cile, i was so excited to spend time with her there but it never happened. our spending time together was reduced to texts and phone calls. and
to anchot, harry and zack and all the others – thank you for the great company on the race track. you guys were so much fun to be with especially during those times we’d bash anchot for being a lewis fan. go ferrari! you think i'm the only one crazy about f1. "di ako makatulog" was how anchot described the feeling after having an encounter with lewis. hahaha.
and to kimi, all i can say is wow. jologs na kung jologs pero talaga kinilig ako the first time his car went by and every single time after that. haha. i didn’t even notice the many cute european boys (according to my female companions, there were SO many of them) because my eyes were glued on the track waiting for kimi’s car to come into view again. his passion for the sport just emanates every single time he makes a lap. the crash going into the last four laps was painful (thanks to the texts friends, your words of comfort prevented me from crying) but he's a driver and i know he will come back the next race to put up a good fight again.
my parents don't understand why i have to go all the way to singapore to watch but they let me be. and that's because they love me and wants me to be happy. hehe. i remember mark telling me when i was on the phone with him, and this was long after the race was over and i was just in the paddock taking it all, that i sounded super happy and i really was. that’s the thing about sports, about f1. these are the things that truly rock my world ;)
