cainer is at it again
In the old days, writers would talk about the need to 'screw up some courage'. Perhaps they knew what we have now forgotten. You don't ever get real courage - or real wisdom - until you first screw things up. Success means nothing without failure. A person who has not properly tasted difficulty will never have any real appreciation of ease. The person who never gets anything wrong is a disaster waiting to happen - a dangerously deluded dreamer. Not all has gone exactly as you might have wished lately. That's precisely why things are soon due to go so well. The strong know that no amount of willpower or determination can keep emotional vulnerability at bay. Life is not asking you to fight now. It is asking you to embrace a weakness with grace and wisdom.
sometimes i need to be reminded how things really are and then i can go back to saving the world again =)

welcoming 2008 with D
i'm not a big fan of chinese new year although i do have fond memories of this occasion. ever since chawi and i became friends, she always gives me tikoy during this time of the year. when i was still with the agency and had a chinese boss, we'd get tikoy and ampao with money.this year though, i nearly missed it. chawi is all the way in london studying. no more chinese boss to give me gifts. and then lunch time while i was at ash wednesday mass D texts "tal, kung hei fat choi ba today?" so i showed the text to mark and he said "oo, parang new year's eve" so that's when i knew. dinner time i was still working in the office and BF was online, he asked if i have some plans, by the end of the conversation D and i are set to celebrate in eastwood because supposedly it'll be fun there.
what false advertising by D! there wasn't any sign of festive activities in the area save for an unknown band playing in the plaza. oh well, we decided to have our own fun a.k.a. food fest! it was a friday so no meat for me instead i savored on shrimps, fish and lots of rice at dencio's in between lots of laughs and chatting. adri and edsel followed right about the same time we were about to finish dessert in jack's loft. i was so full by then i had to pass on the eat all you can breakfast at something fishy.
that's how i cheered the new year - with D, lots of food, more friends - and i wouldn't have it any other way (considering it was on a weekday).

you know you love me ;)
in honor of the upcoming cheesy but wildly celebrated heart's day and my recently discovered guilty pleasure gossip girl. yeah, it took me a while and i succumbed to it just because i've been craving for grey's and smantha, who? but couldn't get any. here's an ode to the people who showered me with a lot of love after a long battle with an unknown sickness. actually they say it was a 24 hour bug that lasted two weeks for moi. haha.i'd like to start with those who are far and away yet found the time to spend some time and lots of money on phone bills and internet connection. BF, i really miss you. den, the unexpected phone call made me really happy and miss you even more. if you send the pics i'll even be happier. ginetsky, your texts and latest email always makes my day whether or not i get to reply or not. best, a line or two from you and i'm already smiling.
next stop are those quite within reach but have been missing for quite a while. the same girl who always texts me "i know you miss me" or "don't miss me so much" finally promised she'd start showing up sometime this week and cecilia you'd better! although i can go on and rant and rave about her without her knowing since she doesn't have multiply. but then again she knows my private blog. oh well she doesn't have time to read it anyway. hehe.
now on to the people who gave me some stash. chocolates abound in my ref because of ully and leng. sweetness galore.
my last stop as always - my dear family represented by my mom and closest friends. my mother sounded pleased when i told her i spent most of my weekend sleeping. music to my ears because we were raised to wake up early even on weekends so now i know the exceptions. sunday dinner in alabang with my closest friends, enjoying the beef salpicao and bravely downing the wine was proof that i'm indeed well and kicking. cheers to you guys and most especially it was great seeing you bei and janus enjoy germany! =)
i know i love you guys and i certainly mean it when i say xoxo ;)
